Where we Speak Politely and Listen Respectfully

Trying to figure out how many times this week we had to change between winter and summer outfits has really been a challenge!  This weather is what makes North Carolina so special!!

MEMORIAL DAY:
Hoping for excellent weather on Monday as we prepare to celebrate Memorial Day as only the Villas can.  We will be honoring service members who have passed, listening to wonderful musical entertainment, and feasting on the amazing pies prepared by our creative bakers.  As always, seating will be available but bring your own chairs if they are more comfortable.  The festivities will begin at 2:15 PM and conclude with Taps across America at 3.

BOARD NEWS
The Board and residents had a wonderful first Reception on May 22, 2023.  Our meeting room was filled with wonderful conversations, excellent questions, and light refreshments.  There are three Reception dates left and we are excited for the great conversations to be continued.  All questions will be responded to after the last reception, sent to the entire community, and placed on the Villas web page.  If you would like to attend a reception and have not signed up, please contact Pam Alig. We will do our best to accommodate you. [ALTERNATE: sign up via the Contact webpage, followed by the choice of Subject: Villas Board Reception RSVP.]

A request to the Board was sent by a resident that asked if our flag could be at half-staff whenever a resident veteran passes.  This was approved by the Board.

We all received a mailer from the Renaissance Center in downtown Wake Forest.  Please take advantage of this wonderful venue that provides an array of performances for all audiences.  There are specific dates for ticket purchases and can be done by phone or in person at the Box office.  It is always fun to go to performances with friends, so get your group together and have a wonderful time.

HELPFUL INFORMATION:
DragonFly has been contracted to perform analysis and repair of small sinkholes that were found during May inspection of our retaining walls and spreaders. Taylor Pressure Washing will clean all buildings June 5-6, and will perform resident requested patio cleaning for $ 20.00, to be paid by the resident directly to the crew. Roger Philbeck, a handyman who has worked in the Villas, has indicated that he will again provide that service; he is listed on our website [ Local Service Providers / Handyman ] and can be scheduled at your expense by calling 919-815-2610. We will be flagging for repair / replacement of broken panels or unstable posts for the black metal fences that are typically above our retention walls. We will be investigating alternatives to paint or touch up the Hardee Plank siding that became discolored after the previous attempt to do touch up painting. The Clubhouse irrigation system will be reactivated to improve the lawn appearance. Please submit work orders to York when you have issues; we have experienced roof leaks, back-flow valve leaks; and a safety trip hazard at a driveway.

Please remember that yard waste is to be placed on the curbs on Wednesday, and trash / recycle carts are to be placed on the sidewalks after 4:30 PM on Thursdays.  Please also note that if you have a very small amount of yard waste, you can either add it to a neighbor’s bag or place it in your trash cart if your bag is no larger than a plastic grocery bag.

The Board has added to the Rules and Regulations that no person under the age of 18 may use the fitness equipment in the Clubhouse.  This is a safety measure.  Please remember that just as in the Clubhouse, a resident must be always present in the fitness room and pool with visitors.

If you are a single resident who is physically unable to move your trash carts, you can use the Wake Forest government page and request valet service.  All the information you will need to file paperwork is listed on the web page [select Town of W.F. website - then scroll to “Collection Assistance Program”, email, or phone].  If you have front door mail delivery, your request to keep that service must be renewed every year.   In phase three of the Villas, residents with phone landlines through Spectrum are having trouble with their calls being dropped.  If you have not already done so, please notify Spectrum to add your name to the list as technicians are continuing to work on this problem.

If you have any questions or concerns, please direct them to either the Committee chairs or to the Board.  You will be responded to in a timely manner.
