Following the Fall Prevention presentation by the Wake Forest Fire Department and Kristina Wolfe, of Prosper PT and Wellness, there has been great interest in the installation of KnoxBoxes at many homes. If you are unfamiliar with the benefits of a KnoxBox, the following should answer any questions you might have.

A KnoxBox is a secure, small metal box mounted on or near the exterior of your home. It contains keys that only emergency first responders can access using a secure key. Here are some key benefits of having a KnoxBox:

  • Quick Emergency Access: In the event of an emergency, every second counts. A KnoxBox allows first responders to enter your home quickly without causing damage by forcing entry. This can be crucial in situations such as medical emergencies, fires, or gas leaks.
  • Reduced Property Damage: Without a KnoxBox, emergency personnel may need to break doors or windows to gain access to your home. A KnoxBox eliminates this need, saving you from costly repairs and maintaining the integrity of your property.
  • Peace of Mind: Knowing that emergency services can access your home swiftly and securely provides peace of mind, especially for those with medical conditions, elderly residents, or families with young children.
  • Enhanced Security: The KnoxBox system is highly secure, with access limited to authorized emergency personnel only. This ensures that your keys are safe and only used in genuine emergencies.
  • Community Safety: By having a KnoxBox, you contribute to the overall safety and efficiency of our community’s emergency response efforts. It helps ensure that first responders can focus on providing immediate assistance rather than dealing with entry barriers.

We encourage all residents to consider installing a KnoxBox. For more information on how to obtain and install a KnoxBox, please click on the link at the top of this page.
