Dryer Vent Cleaning Info, Signup
Posted on Oct 24th, 2024
It has been two years since many of our dryer vents were cleaned in 2022. Dryer vent cleaning is very important for the following reasons:
- Fire prevention safety – clogged dryer vents pose a home fire hazard
- Our adjoining neighbors’ safety – As our homes are attached, if a fire occurred, it would probably affect your neighbors in the same building
- Reduce the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning from gas dryers
- Improves energy efficiency by allowing better airflow
- Minimize wear and tear on your dryer by preventing excessive heat buildup caused by lint accumulation in the vent
- Should you notice clothes taking longer to dry, it can be a sign your dryer needs cleaning.
- The higher our participation level, the more likely it will be helpful in keeping our insurance rates down
Chris Jones, chair of the Facilities Committee, has secured an excellent price of $50 (tax included) per unit for this service with a vetted contractor, Storm Alert. Please note: Any incidental expenses (i.e., replacing hoses, vents, etc. will be extra.)
This service will be performed outside your home. We are aware some residents have modified their vent by installing a secondary lint collector on your dryer indoors. If you have done so, you must inform Pat Ellis or Jackie Barnes in your RSVP so that our contractor can also have inside access to check the safety of that installation. They will discuss with you if any changes are recommended and additional cost, if necessary.
Please RSVP, as indicated below, by Wednesday, October 30,2024 if you wish to participate.
If you get your mail at the Blue Bird cluster boxes, send an
email to Jackie Barnes with your name and address.
If you get your mail at the Winter Wren cluster boxes, send an
email to Pat Ellis with your name and address.
All emails must be received by Wednesday, October 30, 20024. A week or so after that, you will receive an email with a schedule of all homes and the date of your cleaning.
The service will be provided Monday through Wednesday, November 18-20, 2024, with a possibility of Thursday, November 21st if they cannot complete before then.
If you know of a neighbor who does not have a computer or does not use email, please make them aware of this important program.
With appreciation to Pat Ellis and Jackie Barnes for helping to coordinating this important program.
Thank you,
Barney Ford
