Letters from Landscape

Finally!!! Pollen season is over.  It was really bad this year and seemed to last forever, but now we have great weather to enjoy being outside again.

You may have noticed as you travel though the Villas that the contract for removal and replacement of Birch trees for 2025 has been completed.   Six trees were taken out and replaced with new trees or sod.  There will be a new contract for 2026 with the residents who will have trees removed being notified early in the new year.  Our second application of weed prevention will be placed on the schedule for completion and all residents will be advised of the date.  The Berm project was recently completed with new pine straw and weed prevention.  Please be advised that the Landscape team comes on Tuesday, but if they do not finish, they will return on another day to complete the work of the week.  The team comes with a schedule from their supervisor and must stay on that schedule during their work day.  Trimming will begin soon, and it is impossible to trim the entire Villas in one day.  The Villas is divided into sections by the crew, and it is time consuming. Be patient, and everyone will get trimmed at some point.  The Landscape team has asked the Greenscape Architect to make some plans for the small island at the Ligon Mill entrance.  The plan must follow the guidelines set by the Town of Wake Forest, and all residents will be advised of the final plans, which would be late fall of or in 2026.

It has been discovered that having mulch piled thickly near the base of our trees in not healthy for the trees.  This is the reason we are not getting mulch this year.  Please take a few minutes to see if your mulch is thick at the base of a tree, and rake it away if you are able.

Please contact your building supervisor with any Landscape questions, concerns, or comments.
