Water Sub-meter information for some buildings

The following email is from Mark Rogers of the Facilities Committee, who will overseeing the installation of water meters for the buildings that need to split the costs of water bills with their neighbors.
 
I have talked to Plumb V they will be starting the water meters for buildings 1- 12 Monday 3. at 8 am. it will take about 45 minutes to install. They are doing one building all four units at the same time. The area around the shut off valve needs to be cleared. The meter and valve are one unit so will be installed above the shut off valve. They will brake for lunch from noon to 12:30.
 
Some one has to be in the unit the whole time they are there.

Dear Neighbors,
As you may know, 36 of our the Villas condominiums share 9 water meters. In order for those unit owners to have
individual water bills, a sub meter will be installed for each of those units. The Ad Hoc water committee
recommended and the 36 unit owners are in favor of this approach. The sub meters will be installed in the first half
of February.
 
There are two costs associated with the sub meters. First, the purchase and installation costs are anticipated to be
$14,600. This cost will repeat approximately every ten years as the life span of the sub meters ends. Since these
sub meters are in the wall of the condos, they are considered to be in the common area and become a community
expense. Therefore, the board plans for the budget of the Villas to cover the cost of the purchase and installation
of the sub meters for the 36 units.
 
Second, there is a monthly fee of $6 per unit to pay for the sub meters to be read and individual bills for water
usage sent to each of the 36 unit owners. How the monthly fee is paid needs to be determined. The board’s
decision is to have the community make this determination via a vote on whether the whole community of 144
unit owners will share the combined annual cost of the anticipated $6 fee or whether that cost will be the
responsibility of the 36 unit owners with the sub meters.
 
Prior to the vote on this decision each unit owner will receive an Orange Paper which will compare the monthly
water bill cost apart from actual water usage for a unit owner with a master meter and a unit owner with a sub
meter. A week or so later a Q & A Session will follow the Orange Paper. Voting will take place later, at least a few
days after the Q & A session. The date for the Q & A session and the date for the vote will be announced in the
Orange Paper.
