Where we Listen Respectfully and Speak Politely
Beginning to look and feel like Spring is here and winter is over. Many residents may be thinking of planting and sprucing up their mulch areas, but be cautious and some of our worst winter weather has arrived in late March and April.
The new fence is coming along just great. The old fencing has all been removed and the setting of the vertical posts for the new fence has begun. It is strange to walk around and not see the old brown fence, but soon we will have a completely new fence to enjoy.
One of our greatest worries when the Ligon Mill entrance opened was that the Villas would experience much more traffic, and drivers would not be familiar with our lower speed limits and the S curves. Fortunately, that has not happened. Almost all of the traffic coming to both of our entrances are residents and family members. As posted, our speed limit is 20 miles per hour. Many of our residents use canes, walkers, and wheelchairs to move around the community, and we have many that are just slower walkers. Please be mindful, use caution, and lower your speed when entering and exiting the Villas. And, a reminder to our walkers please wear lighter colors and carry a flashlight when traveling by foot after dusk and to stay on the sidewalks facing traffic as much as possible.
Beginning March 14, lawn waste must be placed in recyclable paper bags not plastic. The lawn bags can be purchased in Lowes, Home Depot, and Ace Hardware in the garden centers and online. If you order online you may want to share with your neighbors as the amount of bags is quite large.
You all should have received an email concerning the projects of the Landscape committee. We soon will have weed prevention done, the pruning will continue, plus mulch and pine straw will be done at the end of March or early April. Please contact any Landscape committee member if you have questions or you do not want Bloomsbury to do your pruning. Also, please remember that Bloomsbury does not hand weed mulch beds or care for anything that you have planted.
The Board had a discussion concerning the practicality of having a York Properties Handyman come on a specific day to complete tasks for residents that had submitted work orders. If a handy man could complete a few jobs in one trip, it would help keep costs down as the COA is charged travel time for a job that they are responsible for (shingles, calking, outside stone replacement that is higher than 6 feet etc.) If you have submitted a work order for a job to be completed inside your home, you will pay the Handyman privately. With that in mind, the Board would like to know if residents prefer York Properties, or a Handyman that residents have hired privately to complete any jobs you may have. Please email any Board member with your thoughts or ideas.
We are approaching our final inspection to become public streets. Please continue to be aware of residents and guests not parking on sidewalks. The Board is extremely excited to have a successful end to this project and begin our new phase of being public streets.
