Letters from Landscape
Posted on May 10th, 2026
The Landscape Team met on May 6, 2026 and had some great discussions as to what we want to accomplish for the rest of 2026 and plans for 2027. We cannot believe how fast time is flying past us to think that we are already looking forward to 2027.
The new mulch and pine straw project is complete and the Team would like to thank the residents who took time to compliment the team on how well the Villas now looks. The Family Mulch team did a great job of loading the spreading the mulch, and the Berm looks fabulous with new pine straw!! Having fresh mulch and pine straw really add to our curb appeal.
The Birch trees have been marked for removal, and the Landscapers will be making sure to trim up around the houses that will be painted later this month. Full mowing has begun, and we are waiting for the date the next turf treatment for weeds will be done. We have a watering contract that will be used for sod replacement once the Birch trees are removed, and a few new tree replacements. Once that contract is up (four watering treatments), residents will be responsible for watering. If you are physically unable to water, please contact your building supervisor and someone will assist you with watering. If your building supervisor is out of town, or cannot help in a timely manner please contact any building supervisor.
We are looking at adding a few new plants at the Clubhouse to add color, there is just too much green. This project would take place in June to give the plants a chance to expand their root base prior to the summer heat. The Team continues to be on the look out for dead shrubs and sidewalk trees that need to be trimmed. Once the Birch tree project is complete there is the possibility of removing the Junipers. As the Junipers age, it is difficult to trim them in a manner that the do not appear to be dead. If the Junipers are going to be removed, it would be a staggered process, much like the removal of the Birch trees. There are some Junipers that may not be able to be removed, because they are on a hill and are preventing wash outs during a hard rain.
Some of the projects the Team is considering for 2027 may include, but not be limited to: enhancements to the Pasture Walk and Ligon Mill entrances, Birch tree removal, and dead tree/shrub removal.
