Our new mulch and pine straw applications are finished and have really added to our curb appeal! The 2026 round of Birch tree removal is under way as the trees have been removed and the stumps have been ground. Now we are waiting for the sod replacements and the removal of a few dead trees around the neighborhood.
The Board is hosting a community meeting on Monday, May 18 in the Clubhouse at 1PM. All are welcome and you can sign up on the Villas web site or in the Clubhouse on the bulletin board. The Board will present projects from Committees that have been completed, and proposals for the rest of the year. Residents may ask questions at the meeting as the Board wants it to be as informational as possible.
Just as our mulch areas are bursting with new plantings and lots of color, the scammers are working overtime. It is very important that we all are aware and vigilant. Federal agencies such as the IRS and Social Security never call or text, only letters on official letterhead are sent. If you receive an email or text from an address or phone number you do not recognize, do not open or respond, and never give out information to anyone you did not contact yourself. Scammers can sound so real, but they are only trying to get into your computer or phone to get your information or your money. If you get a call from someone who says they are your bank, water company or electric company, hang up and call the phone number you trust.
The pool is open!! We have finished the electrical problem and we are all safe to be in the water. There may be a yellow tape around the hand rail closest to the parking lot as the technicians had to drill through the concrete and they closed the hole with new concrete. The tape is there for a few days to make sure the concrete cures and is safe to walk on.
A couple of reminders. Trash carts are not to be placed on the sidewalks for pick up until after 4:30 PM on Sunday. There should be at least one section of sidewalk between carts which will provide for easy pick up by the truck. All dogs are to be on a leash when outside. Our dog owners do an excellent job of cleaning up after their dogs so keep up the great work!!
There are three Sundays in Spring left for the free Joyner park concerts. You are encouraged to bring your chairs and your own picnic snacks if you wish, or you can visit the food trucks on site. The concerts are from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM. Lots of fun and always great music.
There will be gutter cleaning on some buildings that are surrounded by large trees on May 18. The workers will begin around 9 AM.
Monday May 25th is Memorial Day and this year we will be having our annual tribute to the fallen with a hot dog luncheon starting at 1:00 p.m. at the Clubhouse and Clubhouse Grounds. Around 2:00 p.m. Laurie will be here with songs and history of this special remembrance. At 3:00 the Villas of Wake Forest proudly participates in "Taps Across America"????which will conclude this event.
On June 5th we will be hosting a food truck, one of our favorites, Goodness GraceUS. Bring your chair and beverage of choice, and enjoy the company and conversations with neighbors and friends, as we are hopeful to be able to sit outside. If you have the Food truck app you can pre order and choose your pickup time.
Our random acts of kindness go to Bob Petrucelli for working with Finances and the debit cards, Rich Pike who is making sure the pool is safe and always moves the trash cart from the Clubhouse to across the street for pick up as the Town will not pick up from the Clubhouse, and to Tom and Susan Sullivan who are such wonderful helpers to the Social committee during our monthly dinners as Tom runs the raffle and Susan does a little bit of everything and leads us in the Blessing.
Until next time..
Rebecca Tucci,
Board Secretary
