Summer weather is here, and although it is much appreciated, we are so desperate for rain. Here’s hoping we get some in the future. The cloudy days are helping keep the heat down, so in that respect we are fortunate.
The second Wednesday of each month is the designated day for Board meetings. We also have on the calendar the fourth Wednesday as a meeting day. The Board does not always use the Fourth Wednesday as a formal meeting. It has been used as a work day or interviewing vendors and reviewing paperwork. If it is not a formal meeting, no minutes are taken or previous minutes not voted on. If there is no formal meeting, there will be a lapse in having previous meeting notes posted. We will try to inform the residents when there is not a second meeting.
All residents should have a copy of the Rules and Regulations for the Villas. If you do not have one, it can be found on the Villas web page (
link). Each month, an employee of York Properties walks through and around the Villas. Our third walk was just completed, and several areas were noted to be out of compliance. Board members will be contacting those residents and discussing what needs to be done to be in compliance. On the next walk, if the violation is still in place, several actions could be taken, which could include a letter, a hearing, or a fine. If you have any questions concerning the Rules and Regulations please contact any Board member and we will assist you.
The roofing project on two buildings has been completed, and the painting of four buildings is being finished shortly. On June 24, we will begin the power washing project, starting at the Clubhouse. All vinyl buildings will be power washed over a period of 3 to four days. The Heavenly Shine company will be completing the work and will be using water from the hydrants. More details will follow.
Although Fall seems far away, it is just around the corner. We will have three seats available on the Board, and hope to have many interested people in running. If you have any questions, or are considering running, please feel free to contact any Board member to discuss the many possibilities available. Your community needs your input.
Our Clubhouse is the hub of our community. It is where we gather for all types of events, from coffees, cards, billiards, exercise, reading, special events, and much more. It is our responsibility to help maintain the cleanliness and order of the Clubhouse. Our carpet is very new, and yet it has some stains. Our tables have been recently refinished,(thanks Ray and Marlene Barnes) and need to be cleaned after use. Let’s work together as friends and neighbors to keep our Clubhouse clean and tidy. If you notice a spill, please pick it up or ask for help. At the end of an event take a few minutes to wipe down your table or offer to use the light weight vacuum to clean the rug. Many hands working together can make cleaning fun and completed in a short time. Volunteers are always welcome to help with set up, cleaning, and taking down of events. The true spirit of the Villas is working together where all are included.
Looking for something to do on a weekend? Looking to get out of the house for a while? Here are some ideas. 8:30 PM Joyner Park June 13 Family Movie night 701 Harris Road. On Saturday, South Taylor Street Farmers market opens at 8 AM. Planning ahead, the Wake Forest Fireworks will be held July 3 at Heritage high school. Admission is free, gates open at 5:30 PM music will be played and the fireworks begin at 9:30. Pat Ellis has another wonderful bus trip planned for the Bavarian town of Helen. Please contact her for details.
Random acts of kindness to all who sent flowers, cards, snacks to residents who have been ill, to two neighbors who helped others move mulch after some plants were buried, and to all of those who take the time to wave and say hello. Special thanks to Mark Rogers who did a fantastic cleaning job in the Clubhouse after our Memorial Day event.
Until next time…
