July 2026

We are so thankful for the rain storms we had, what a difference they made in the color of the grass.  Now if we could get a few more of them it would be wonderful, but no more lightning.

Last month, the Landscape team, along with Fran, Loren, and Ray who volunteered, weeded and pruned inside the pool area. We had a lot of fun and got a lot done at the same time. We are concerned for the honeysuckle as it did not bloom this year, but that could be due to the crazy winter weather we had.  We will be watching it next spring.  We still have the same mowing and trimming crews, but as you know, our day of service has been changed to Wednesday.  They are very aware they cannot be by the pool until after 11.  They are spending time trimming as it is almost too dry to mow.  We appreciate their efforts.

July 23, 24, and 27 Heavenly Shine will be on site to do patios and sidewalks for the homes that were not washed this week.  More details will follow, and if you want your patio washed you will have to sign up and pay them privately.  You can sign up on the web page or on the bulletin board at the Clubhouse. The cost is $25.00 for each.

Please remember that yard waste must be in paper or a recyclable container should only be put on the sidewalk  after 4:30 PM on Thursday.  Likewise, Trash carts are put out on Sunday after 4:30 or early Monday morning. Please space your carts about 3 to 4 feet apart so the truck can easily pick them up.

Every year we have had an awesome Ice Cream Social hosted by Terry Pike.  Terry announced last year that she was retiring.  If anyone, or a group would like to chair this event it would be great!!  It has always been one of our highly attended events, and many of us could hate to miss it.  Please contact any board member or Kathee Bailey if you or your group is interested.

Bingo has started again on the first Wednesday of the month.  Please consider coming and joining in the fun.

We have been told by the pool committee that there is still a problem with the pool being unlocked.  This creates a huge liability for all residents as if there is an accident it could be very costly for us.  Please make sure the pool is locked if you are the last person to leave.

This week there have been 2 serious accidents at the Caveness Farm and Ligon Mill intersection.  These two roads seem to be crowded mid to late afternoon.  If you can consider an alternate route at the time of day, please do and be careful.  You can go by Sam’s and the ABC store to get to Walmart, and then to Main Street or Ligon Mill.

Off Falls of Neuse there is a fabulous center named Poiema Arts Center.  Several times a year they present musicals that are amazing.  Tons of local talent that will make you think you are on Broadway.  August 3-9 they will be performing West Side Story.  Tickets are very reasonable and you will be glad you gave it a try.  Evening and matinees are available. Random acts of kindness to Susan and the Social Team for a fabulous Pulled Pork dinner, Margaret who helped after Ladies coffee, also to the neighbors or walkers who move trash carts.  Thanks to Diane who gave July 4 earrings to all the ladies at coffee!!!  The Villas residents are the best!

…until next time
