The Landscape Team met on Wednesday of this week and had a short but very productive meeting. Thanks to all of our recent rain storms the grass has never looked greener, and we could do without the daily heat waves, however, we are not quite ready to be wishing for snow.
Our Greenscape Operation Manager has recently retired, and we are waiting to hear who his replacement will be. Our area supervisor was here recently and took dirt samples from the areas on upper Bluebird where the grass seems to have disappeared. Several treatments have been placed on these areas, and fingers crossed, it looks like the grass is returning.
He has also suggested, and the team agrees, the Spring plantings that have not been completed will be installed in late September. The heat is supposed to continue, and with the water restrictions, Fall is a much better option for survival. These plantings include, but are not limited to: replacement of sod where Birch trees were removed, several small trees that have died and will be replaced, enhancements at the Clubhouse, and removal of the dead Red Twigs on the berm. These new plantings have initial watering in the contract to be done by the Greenscape water truck. The Team is very happy with the work being done weekly by our crew.
The trimming of shrubs continues as it is being done in sections, and with 144 homes to be trimmed, it does take a considerable amount of time. We thank you for your continued patience.
Some of the best discussions the Team had is Greenscape has agreed to stop the extra fuel charges since gas prices have lowered. We also have discussed what the new Fall projects should be. We have some original shrubs in the original section that need to be removed and replaced, a lawn that is being damaged by erosion from the heavy storms, a few trees that were severely damaged in a storm, and a large red bud that has died. We also would like to look into entrance enhancements. These ideas will be decided on at the Meeting in September.
