Villas Oct-Nov Blog

What a welcome relief with our little rain showers and cooler weather!! We were fortunate to have the severe weather miss us, but we must remain vigilant in the future. We hope that those who were impacted during the last storm are doing well and are experiencing some help and relief.
The Board is finalizing the Budget for 2027. The budget will be included in the Elections mailing you will receive in November. Please follow the instructions for the Elections ballot carefully, especially placing your address in the upper right hand corner of the return envelope. Many more important details will be in the mailings. If you have questions, please contact any member of the Elections Committee or Board member.
Very special thanks to Susan and Shirley for providing the service of dinners!! Residents will be able to order dinners (feeds 2) once a month. There was an excellent response and hopefully this will continue for a long time for those of us who find cooking difficult, and those who need a break from cooking every day!! They will be bringing the orders to Men’s coffee on Tuesday October 27 near the end of the hour for pick up. If, for any reason you cannot come to pick up your order at the Clubhouse please call Shirley as soon as possible and they will deliver to you.
Another special thanks to the Pike family who shared memories, photos, and humor at the Celebration of Terry on Thursday. It was comforting to hear the memories they shared, to meet the family we have all heard so much about, and the joy that was expressed when it was announced that once again the outdoor Holly tree will be lit in honor of Terry.
Remember that the Clubhouse has gotten several reservations for Holiday parties, and if you are thinking of renting the Clubhouse for a party, please contact Marlene Barnes. Our Villas annual Holiday party is set for December 12, so mark your calendars for a wonderful afternoon at Campbell Lodge. More details will follow as the date approaches.
The Communications team met today and soon you will be receiving an email as to how you can use the web page more efficiently and how to put your profile and Biography on the web page. If you were a resident prior to 2018, we had a Biography Book, but the price of printing is now very costly, so we have decided to go digital. Watch for an email with further information that will be coming out soon.
Our 18 Red Oak trees will be treated in late fall to stop the occurrence of the dreaded leaf eating caterpillars. We are very hopeful that the treatment will be as effective as it has been in other areas of Wake County. You may have noticed earlier this week the arborist truck parked near the Pasture Walk entrance. The street sides of the trees were trimmed to encourage growth and remove low hanging limbs that could be hazardous, but the home owners’ sides were not. This was to offer shade and privacy to the homeowner.
Random acts of Kindness to all of the Social Committee members who donated time and talent for baking cookies on Thursday. Also, to the neighbors who remove the trash carts for neighbors, and pick up papers that have flown out of the recycle truck.
Until next time…..
