What does M.A.S.H. stand for?
M*A*S*H (an acronym for Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) is an American media franchise consisting of a series of novels, a film, several television series, plays, and other properties, and based on the semi-autobiographical fiction of Richard Hooker.
Richard Hooker wrote MASH: A Novel About Three Army Doctors (1968) based on his experiences as a surgeon at the 8055th MASH in South Korea.
The TV series played from 1972 - 1983 = 3x longer than the Korean War.
Alan Alda and Loretta Swit were the only cast members in ALL episodes.
The highest-rated broadcast of all time is the final episode of M*A*S*H in 1983, with 60.2% of all households with television sets in the United States at that time watching the episode.
